Ahhh, mindless entertainment. If you've ever been an insomniac, I'm sure you've seen quite a few movies (and infomercials).
Here are some of my favorites that I would recommend to people. They are not arthouse or something where a man eats a banana for an hour then cries in French. They are just what I find interesting.
I think Wes Anderson is crap, and Kim Ki Dok is incomprehensible bullshit, so if that is your tastes, you probably won't like these.
(English title - Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance; literal title - Vengeance is Mine) Where to start? A strong contender for my all time favorite movie. The actors and acting are great, and most of the stars and the director worked together on several films. I don't want to ruin anything by saying more, but it has the perfect ending. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0310775/ |

The Red Violin The story of a violin and the people who owned it from the time of its creation until modern day. The sequence showing the passage of time by the Romani playing the same song through generations is so great. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120802/ |

Closet Land I saw this at like 4am one night, knowing nothing else about it apart from the title, and I think I lucked out because that is how it should be watched. Don't read about it, just go watch it, alone, in the dark. Not gory, not bloody, no jump scares. But, damn. I am 99% sure that you can find the whole thing on Youtube. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101597/ |
